Empowering Families for over 40 Years

We’ve been providing HOPE for women and men experiencing unplanned pregnancies for over 40 years, but we have continued to expand and do so much MORE!
How has Hope Pregnancy Center grown into what it is today?

1975: Hope began as a Birthright Chapter founded by Mrs. Louise Summerhill in downtown Willmar.

1985: The center moved to the Professional Center on South First Street.

1988: The local center was reorganized as West Central Minnesota Crisis Pregnancy Center.

2000: Our name changed to HOPE Pregnancy Center.

2002: Hope moved downtown next to The Barn Theatre.

2014: We were able to move to our current location at 1520 Mavis Lane SE through our generous partners!

“When my boyfriend and I found out I was pregnant the first thing we did was go to Hope Pregnancy Center. I had heard of it but hadn’t ever gone and wasn’t sure what to expect. We were both young and pretty scared, but when we arrived the building was beautiful and everyone we encountered had a smiling face and compassionate and caring attitude. We arrived scared and teary eyed, but after talking with someone and getting some informational pamphlets we left feeling much better. They scheduled us to come back for a free ultrasound and when we did, they printed out pictures of our baby for us and gave me crackers and water because I was nauseous. We continued to go to Hope for parenting classes to earn Baby Bucks, even well after I had my baby. Using the Baby Bucks was super helpful for buying things for our baby like diapers and they even had things for us parents like toothpaste and shampoo. Every time we walked through the door we were greeted with a smile by people who genuinely took the time to get to know us and our situation, and provided us with support and knowledge. It was extremely helpful going there as young new parents. I greatly appreciate everything that they have done for us and how kind and caring each member of the team was. We had a great experience with Hope Pregnancy Center.”

“Hope Pregnancy has impacted my life in many ways. I originally had a CPS case and had two of my kids removed from my care. One of the requirements was to do parenting classes that didn’t start for another three months. I couldn’t possibly wait that long, so I went on google and found that Hope Pregnancy offers parenting classes/videos. My case worker agreed that if I watched 20 videos that would count as my parenting classes. I was so sketchy to go, I thought they were going to judge me, and give me their ignorant opinions that I didn’t want. However when I arrived, they treated me very kindly, and with open arms before they even knew me. When we first started talking about why I was there, they didn’t push for more information then what I wanted to give them. They just sat, listened and comforted me. Over the span of the 10 weeks I went to watch these videos, I found them very informative, and that Hope Pregnancy was becoming my biggest support system. I finished my videos and a couple months passed, and I find out I’m pregnant with my third, and my CPS case is still open. I felt like I was alone, scared and didn’t have any options. I went back to Hope Pregnancy, they took care of me again, they gave me an ultrasound, and spent about two weeks finding out information I needed and wanted to know. Several more months passed and my other two kids were going to be adopted, I was devastated. Once again I found myself going back to Hope Pregnancy, I didn’t need parenting videos, or information on anything, I just needed someone to listen, and not feel like I was being judged. I didn’t want to feel alone, or be alone. They sat and listened for as long as I needed them to. They were so patient with me. I feel like the staff there genuinely care, they’re very considerate and non-judgmental. Eventually I figured things out with all three of my kids. Even though I figured them out, I continue to go to Hope Pregnancy for their Thursday events or even to just say hi. I recommend Hope Pregnancy to everyone who is or has struggled and needs help.”

“The staff members at Hope Pregnancy Center are very welcoming, nonjudgmental, and friendly. I have formed a strong relationship with one staff member in particular. I go in and talk to her on a regular basis about positive and negative things going on in my life. She is a great support to have not only during the good times and the bad times of an unplanned pregnancy, but also during single parenthood; talking with her feels like talking to a friend. I have not only learned how to be a better mom, but I have also learned valuable life lessons during my experiences at Hope Pregnancy Center.”

Patient Comment

“Hope Pregnancy Center gave us a safe place to let us express our true feelings about everything that has been going on, and for that we will be forever thankful.”
