Once you have met with a client advocate or nurse, we will typically follow up by scheduling a limited obstetrical ultrasound with our medically trained staff. This appointment is free and we welcome you to bring your partner, a friend or parent.
How does the ULTRASOUND PROCESS work?
An ultrasound will tell how viable your pregnancy is through the heartbeat and location in the uterus. It will also give us a more accurate assessment of how far along you are and your potential due date. This will be helpful in determining your options. Be assured the exam room is discreet and quiet.
Wear loose clothing as your stomach will be exposed. It is recommended you drink 2 glasses of water before you appointment. You fill feel gentle pressure on your abdomen, if your bladder is full it may be slightly uncomfortable. We always start with this process.
If the abdominal ultrasounds does not provide enough information, it may be necessary to perform a vaginal ultrasound. You will be asked to remove your clothing and wear a gown. Your nurse gently will guide you through the details.
Afterwards you will get time to talk through your next steps. We will also provide you with printed pictures.
ULTRASOUND before ABORTION
Even if you are considering an abortion you should have an assessment of your pregnancy progression. Our medical staff can help you understand the facts about abortion, discuss methods and answer your other related questions.
